My name is Ransom Welch, and at 23 years old, I am proud to be building a life and career rooted in craftsmanship, hard work, and tradition.
I grew up on a working cattle ranch in Central Texas, where long days, early mornings, and hard work were simply part of life. From a young age, I was immersed in agriculture and Western culture, spending much of my younger years rodeoing—roping calves and competing in team roping. Those experiences shaped not only my work ethic, but also my appreciation for well-made gear that is built to perform when it matters.
After high school, I moved to Stephenville, Texas to attend Tarleton State University, where I majored in Agricultural Business. Like many college students, I found myself with pockets of free time outside of classes. Looking for something productive to fill that time, I began experimenting with small leather projects in my dorm room. What started as a creative outlet quickly turned into a passion. I became fascinated with the balance between craftsmanship, durability, and design.
Over time, those small projects evolved into something much bigger. I continued honing my skills, learning through hands-on experience, trial and error, and a deep respect for traditional methods. I completed my degree at Tarleton and chose to remain in Stephenville after graduation—a community that feels like home and aligns closely with my values and way of life.
Today, I operate this business full time, building leather goods and engraved pieces that are meant to be used, not just admired. Creativity plays a major role in my work, but function will always come first. I believe the best pieces are those that serve their intended purpose flawlessly while still carrying thoughtful details, whether that’s hand tooling, engraving, or subtle design elements that elevate the final product.
I am incredibly fortunate to share this life with my beautiful wife, Bailee, whose support means more than I can put into words. Being able to make a living with my hands—creating functional, long-lasting pieces that reflect both tradition and individuality—is something I don’t take lightly. Every item that leaves my shop is built with intention, honesty, and pride in the craft.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me and the story behind the work.
